Voices of Egypt – A Rising Tide for Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs, corporate executives and students from across Egypt and the Middle East share their hopes, goals, and aspirations for the launch of Plug & Play Cairo and the Rising Tide initiative Why Rising Tide?

Egypt has been lacking the entrepreneurial spirit from both a personal and societal level as well as a cultural and governmental level. After having spent 6 years in the U.S. (4 years at MIT, and 2 years working for an internet startup), and experiencing firsthand the entrepreneurship culture there, I decided to come back home to Egypt and start my own business. Needless to say, I ran into numerous challenges and obstacles that I didn't think I would ever need to run into. Seeing and taking part in the birth and development of such an important entrepreneurial culture is not only important for me as an entrepreneur and business owner, but also for the country as a whole. I would like to be a part of this great vision

Rising Tide of Entrepreneurship
Cairo, Egypt – 25-26 October, 2010

 

An exciting opportunity is finally taking shape.

We now have a fixed date for the launch of a PlugandPlay (PnP) incubator in Cairo – an important step in our diasporas’ initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Egypt. PlugandPlay will house hundreds of entrepreneurs in the next three years. Our focus will be on mentoring, financing and accelerating the growth of the most promising start-ups.

To celebrate and deliberate, we invite executives and high impact entrepreneurs to join us for an open dialogue on how to make the initiative a success. The proposed Agenda is as shown below
